Love is in full bloom, and what better way to capture its essence than by painting a beautiful watercolor Valentine's wreath? Wreaths have long been a symbol of unity, celebration, and the changing seasons. In this blog post, I am thrilled to guide you through the process of creating your very own watercolor Valentine's wreath. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting your creative journey, I can guarantee you will have so much fun painting this one.

Supplies Needed:

  • Canson XL Coldpress Watercolor Paper

  • Pencil & Eraser

  • Large Heart-Shaped Cookie Cutter

  • Princeton Heritage 4050 Round Brush Size 4 or 6

  • Two Jars of Water

  • Watercolor Paints

  • White Ceramic Plate or Paint Palette for mixing colors

  • Sakura Pigma Micron Pen 01

  1. Start by cutting your watercolor paper to the size of a card that you would like.

  2. Using your pencil, we are going to LIGHTLY trace the inside of a large heart shaped cookie cutter. Once you are finished, lightly erase the pencil marks so that only you can see them.

  3. Next, choose the color of your flowers. Dip your brush in the color of your choice (I chose a rose gold color) and paint a bunch of petals and flowers in the lower left corner of your heart.

  4. Following your pencil tracing of the heart, paint in your leaves. Try to alternate the hues of your leaves and the variety types to add interest and movement. Continue to paint the leaves until you outline your entire heart.

  5. Choose a color for the center of your flowers. Paint in small dots as the center of your flowers.

You can frame this and use it for decoration on your Valentine’s themed table or the mantle of your fireplace.
